Karen Isrow is a speech-language pathologist who began her career with Citrus County schools in August of 1996. She was placed at Pleasant Grove Elementary School in 1998. In her role as a speech-language pathologist, she has worked with students with autism throughout her career. Karen was a CARD partner with Erica Urban and Ann-Marie Orlando in 2004 and 2005. In the ensuing years since this partnership, Karen has seen many changes in the field of education and autism. She continues to work with students in small group language therapy to develop skills necessary to make students with autism successful, but more often than not this success is now seen with support in the general education classroom rather than in the special education setting. Karen sees the need for expressive and social language skills to transfer across school settings to make students with autism successful not only in therapy, but throughout the educational experience.
