Mallory Niver is a sixth year general education teacher with a master’s degree in educational leadership. She taught kindergarten for three years and 2nd grade for three more. In her second year of teaching kindergarten, she had a child arrive who was an undiagnosed student with ASD. He was all it took; she was hooked on ESE. With no formal training in students with autism beyond college classes, Ms. Niver delivered all of the accommodations needed to make this child successful in the general education setting. She made visuals, incorporated one-on-one teaching, and allowed for any kind of response to serve as her measurable work output. Ms. Niver is currently teaching 4th grade general education.
